10th Annual Regional Lecturer Workshop : where peace education meets transformative action.
10th Annual Regional Lecturer Workshop, 2026 - Bangkok, Thailand
The ASEAN University Network-Human Rights Education (AUN-HRE), hosted by the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies, Mahidol University successfully organized the 10th Annual Regional Lecturer Workshop on Teaching Peace and Human Rights. The workshop this year which was held from July 13–16, 2026, in Bangkok focused on teaching peace and transformative peacebuilding. 🎓
Co-organized by Universiti Sains Malaysia and SHAPE-SEA Program, and supported by the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, and Mahidol University, this four-day intensive workshop brought together 20 passionate participants from across Southeast Asian countries. 🌏
The workshop explored the concept of peace through conflict mapping, different frameworks for conflict, and discussed the crucial nexus between peace and human rights. Resource persons who are scholar practitioners in peace education in Southeast Asia addressed the vital roles of Gender and the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda in contemporary peacebuilding. They also engaged participants in interactive group simulations designing peace mediation processes and practicing participatory learning methodologies. 💭
The workshop concluded with inspiring presentations from the participants on their collective and individual peace education programs and syllabi, ensuring the lessons learned will be taken back to classrooms and different learning spaces across the region. 📖
